Art is a second career for Gary Bachers and he pursues it with the same passion a he did his first. Against all odds he survived a devastating stroke at the prime of his life. The stroke left him with expressive aphasia, robbing him of the ability to converse or to write as well as leaving him with no use of his right side. The transition from physician to artist would not be an easy one but he painstakingly trained his left hand to create award winning colored pencil works that are brilliant and vivid, masterfully created. His art became his language. These works often challenge preconceptions the viewers may have about pencil art works. For Bachers, his art truly is the art of living!
