Art was a second career for Dr. Gary Bachers and he pursued it with the same passion as he did his first.
Against all odds he survived a devastating stroke at the prime of his life, leaving him with expressive aphasia, robbing him of the ability to converse or to write and without use of his right side.
The transition from physician to artist would not be an easy one but he slowly trained his left hand to create award winning colored pencil works that are brilliant and vivid, masterfully created.
His art became his language. These works often challenge any preconceptions the viewers have of pencil works.
For him, art truly was the art of living!
We hope you'll enjoy the website and the glimpse into his incredible life and art.
This summer we worked on putting together Gary's first retrospective show. It was a beautiful and emotional process.
Grateful that we have this recording of Gary playing the piano as the background music. Some works are available for purchase, some on loan from private collections and some we are not ready to part with. The show is available for art centers and other venues where his work can inspire. Enjoy and message us with any inquiries. |
Original artworks are framed in a contemporary frame using only archival materials.
We use conservation glass on all the work. We'll be happy to offer alternate frames if requested.
Please check back often as we are adding new original work and feel free contact us anytime .
